“Compassion and tolerance are not a sign of weakness, but a sign of strength.” – Dalai Lama

Running a sanctuary is a 24/7 occupation. An occupation run entirely by animals. One of the only things we have control over are the attitudes we do life with.
Sugarshine FARM Animal Sanctuary holds a non-judgemental opinion to those who surrender animals to us. This means thanking them for making the effort to find a better home for the animal. It means explaining who we are, what we’re about and why we do what we do. We don’t know why people do the things they do. We don’t know why pigs are beaten, or sheep are used, we don’t know why roosters are eaten or cows starved. Just as we don’t know the backgrounds of many of the animals, people struggle and are in need of love too. All we can do is give the animals a better life, and help the humans to move on with theirs without guilt or shame, and hopefully to make better decisions in the future.
Bringing other people down simply puts us on their level. As a sanctuary we focus on peace, love and happiness for ALL living beings.
